Future Freelance

The following is an interview I conducted with Avi for the futures page for the Yearbook, but the advisor, in her vast wisdom, decided that I couldn't put it in because he doesn't actually go to Century this year and the yearbook is for this year. This is quite ridiculous, especially when considering that on this same page my partner put pictures of his brother who graduated two years ago and wrote up a story about him being in the Army, and that was allowed. The page is about the future, so why wouldn't I put something on the page about a Century student who's living out a possible future of a Century student? So, I've decided to post this here to get some use out of it, and if for no other reason than at least to spite her.
Aviran is a Freshman at the University of Minnesota and a member of Century’s class of 2005. He plans to major in International Business and minor in either Marketing or Finance.
Q. What’s the most frightening thing about leaving CHS behind?
A. The fact that I was going from knowing almost all 450 students in my class, plus many underclassmen, to knowing only the few Century students who were also attending the U of M. Although, because we were all students coming to the U of M it was easy to meet a lot of people.
Q. A year ago, is this where you hoped you would end up?
A. I hoped that I would have been at Harvard. I thought that going to a school like that was the only way to do well, but going to the U of M, and being at the Carlson School of Management may actually be better. I have met so many different types of people... and unlike Harvard, nobody thinks they are better than the rest of the world. I just didn't realize that the U of M was for me until later in the year.
Q. Which is a harder adjustment, entering high school or college?
A. They are very similar transitions. I think that entering college is a little bit too hyped up though. Everyone talks about how you might have a really hard time, but I did not have any such problems, and I don't think that many people do. A lot of people at college refer to High School Drama, and at college, you are past that.
Q. So far, which has been more challenging academically?
A. The actual work at college is harder; every class assigns about two hours of work a day. There’s a lot more down time and a lot more time to do the work though, you’re not in class from 8-3 everyday. I enjoy it.
Q. Do you think you were adequately prepared for college by your time at Century?
A. Way, Way prepared. Coming out of Century... I was very very lucky, the quality of teachers there is great. I hear about kids here who complain about how low the teaching standards were in their high school and they’re having a hard time. Teachers at Century provided a big advantage for me. Mr. Dee, Gilbertson, Mrs. Wells, Pulchinski and Baker, were a few of mine who were very good teachers. Also, the wide availability of honors and AP classes really helps out.

decen, decen
I'll show you decent! O... I just did.
It is pathetic that she didn't put this in the year book. Simi gets his "OMG THE ARMY IS THE BEST PAGE".
That is some BS to the max. What next, post a picture of the deer you shot page?
Whoops, guess that one slipped my mind.
